Home Made Castile Coconut Shampoo
I have been making our own body, skin and hair care products now for about seven years. From simple to complicated, I’ve tried everything. Here is a wonderful and super easy recipe for a super nourishing Coconut Shampoo.
Castile Coconut Shampoo
The castile soap is a very mild cleanser and the coconut milk is super nourishing, leaving your hair silky and soft. I love to use this also for my kids who have super curly hair. For them I add more almost double the amount of coconut milk. We all love the smell! For essential oils you can add any oil you fancy. Rosemary is great for conditioning your hair even further and helping with dandruff, so is any mint. Lavender is an all-time favorite. For the kids I often use vanilla essential oil.
The scent of vanilla and coconut is just sooo yummy! Makes me almost want to eat it.
1/4 cup coconut milk (homemade or store-bought)
1/3 cup liquid castile soap
20 drops Essential Oil of your choice
1/2 tsp almond oil (olive oil works as well)
and pour into a small mason jar. Use as you would shampoo – 1 tsp at a time.
Keeps for 1 month in the shower. If you store it in the fridge, it will be good for up to 2 months.
TIP: You could also use a baby shampoo or a mild organic shampoo instead of the liquid castille soap. I made this recipe one time with Avalon Organics Shampoo and no added Essential Oils (since my shampoo came with Lavender Essential Oils).
